On January 28, the Great Ocean Chamber Music Ensemble from Wuhan presented a chamber music concert “Through Time with Music” at the CCTE Theater at Duke Kunshan University, coordinated by Assistant Professor of Music and Composition Maximiliano Amici. The performance was offered to both the DKU campus and the Kunshan community, drawing an audience of students, faculty, and local residents.

The concert opened with four selections from Tchaikovsky’s The Seasons, a collection known for its lyrical warmth and expressive detail. These pieces established a reflective and elegant atmosphere that carried into the second half of the program, which featured Rachmaninov’s Trio in D minor. Though contemplative in tone, the trio is not mournful. Instead, it unfolds as a powerful musical journey that explores memory, life, and artistic legacy. Dedicated to Tchaikovsky and written to commemorate his passing, the work is widely regarded as one of Rachmaninov’s masterpieces.

The event highlighted the richness of the Russian chamber repertoire while strengthening cultural connections between the university and the surrounding community through a shared live music experience.
