Speaker’s Bio
Andreas Gysin is an artist and designer whose practice bridges graphic design, computation, and spatial experience. Working across interactive installations, kinetic sculptures, and generative visual systems, he transforms everyday technological components—algorithms, electronics, mechanical displays—into precise and poetic forms of expression. His work investigates the shifting relationship between the digital and the physical, revealing how code and material constraints can generate new modes of movement, pattern, and perception. Gysin’s installations and collaborations have been exhibited widely, establishing him as a leading figure in contemporary computational and kinetic art.

Pixels, Lights & Motors
In his lecture, Andreas Gysin will offer a deep dive into the processes, experiments, and behind-the-scenes mechanics that shape his body of works. Moving fluidly between the roles of designer and artist, he will unpack how pixels, light, motion, and mechanical components become the raw material for expressive visual systems. Through selected projects, Gysin will reveal how constraints, algorithms, and physical structures guide his creative digital craft. The talk invites audiences to explore the interplay between code and craft, material and imagination, and the evolving possibilities at the intersection of art, design, and technology.
