Yang Wang 汪洋 is an artist, writer, and coder based in New York. His interdisciplinary practice bridges computational creativity with philosophical inquiry into technology. Treating computation both as a medium of artistic expression and as a subject of critique, Wang creates simulated environments that probe the sociocultural implications of digital systems. Alongside his creative work, he writes theory and criticism that analyze the evolving role of technology in society.
Wang has been an artist-in-residence at Eyebeam (2023) and Pioneer Works (2020), as well as a member of NEW INC at the New Museum (2019–2020). His works have been exhibited internationally, including at Rhizome, the Power Station of Art in Shanghai, and the National Museum of China.
In his talk, “Software as Worlding Infrastructure”, Wang will discuss recent projects through the lens of how digital infrastructures mediate human cognition and shape the ways in which the world is revealed to us through the necessary mediation of digital objects.
